The Choir Ministry leads the asembly of parishioners in its' harmonic prayer during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and for other religious services or occasions.
The purpose of the ministry is to enhance the sacred liturgy and to encourage the assembly's participation through sung prayer.
The Choir practices most every Thursday evening beginning at 7:00 PM in the church.
The Choir sings at the 11:00 AM Mass every Sunday during the months of September through Pentecost.
COME JOIN OUR CHOIR!
A cantor is the chief singer who leads the congregation in sung responses during the sacred liturgy.
To be a cantor one must have some natural singing ability, know the order of the Mass, and work and practice with the choir director and musicians.
Cantors are needed at the Saturday vigil Mass at 5:00 PM and the 9:00 AM Sunday Mass. When the choir is on hiatus during the summer, then cantors are also needed at the 11:00 AM Mass.
This special choir of men and women volunteer their time to sing for funeral masses of deceased members of our parish. While this is a liturgical ministry of our church, people in our Funeral Choir are also a precious gift to the family of the deceased. Funeral masses can take place any day from Monday through Saturday. If you are interested, you may contact our Music Director, Frances Fotia. See the Parish Directory for more information.
