In accordance with The Sacraments of Initiation Policy for the Diocese of Pittsburgh, "children wishing to prepare for the Sacrament of Eucharist must be in their second year of formal catechetical instruction.
Students who are candidates for reception of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist will do home catechesis with their parents, as well as, participate in sacrament preparation lessons that are interwoven in their regular Faith Formation sessions.
Parental preparation sessions (Parent Meetings) to update parents' sacramental understanding and help them to become involved in their child's celebration of the sacraments are required and held before and/or during the season of classes for the candidates, in accordance with Diocesan policy.
