Pastoral Council is a group appointed by the pastor or administrator to serve as lay representatives addressing the needs of the entire parish. The participants are aligned with the various parish activities and ministries, allowing information flow and feedback between the parish at large and each activity group. The council meets approximately 5 times per year in a formal assembly.
Because of the decrease in the number of priests this group of lay people now assumes many of the roles that priests in years gone by had performed. With decreases in church operating budgets, coupled with expanded responsibilities placed upon the pastors, the laity has had to assume many of the duties, such as advocacy, informational instruction, and related tasks.
The mission of the Finance Council Ministry is to provide sound financial advice to our pastor.
The Finance Council prepares and publishes the parish financial statement, assists the Pastor in making financial decisions and oversees the accountability of receipts and disbursements. In addition the Committee prepares the Parish annual budget.
We also provide the Parishioners with the financial information so that they are well informed on the financial status of the Parish.
This Ministry is charged with the responsibility of evaluating all buildings and property concerning their maintenance and upkeep. The Ministry also recommends specific actions to effectively utilize or dispose of Parish assets in order to provide Holy Redeemer Parish with effective and efficient facilities/services and the financial wherewith-all to support them.
