Pastoral Council leads the parish community in the discernment and expression of the parish and envisions the ways in which the parish membership is being called by God to carry out that mission. The mission of the diocese and the mission of St. Ferdinand are shaped by the Church’s two-thousand-year tradition and ultimately grounded in the mission of Christ.
Improve communication in all areas of parish life so all parishioners know what ministries, groups, and programs are available to serve the parish
Create a spirit of hospitality within the parish so all will feel welcome and an active and integral part of the parish
Celebrate a reverent, meaningful, and spiritually uplifting liturgy for all who attend St. Ferdinand Parish
Create programs and religious education opportunities for our young adults
Encourage more participation in the varied adult education programs offered at St. Ferdinand
Support and encourage our catechist in the religious education, youth, and RCIA programs
Reach out to inactive parishioners and invite them back to our church community
Become engaged and connected with the Cranberry Township community
The role of Pastoral Council is to maintain the integrity of St. Ferdinand’s mission, goals and the objectives related to it. When there is a clear awareness of a “larger vision” proposed by the gospels and taught by the Church, St. Ferdinand finds itself energized by a sense of mission and directed to matters that will do more than simply fill the calendar.
Pastoral Council serves in an advisory capacity to Fr. Gallagher and assures him that things get done. It has produced many successful programs such as festivals, fundraisers, facility maintenance, and a variety of social events.
