In the Sacrament of Penance, also called Confession or Reconciliation, Jesus Christ continues to absolve sins through the ministry of his priest.
Baptized adults who are becoming Catholic are prepared to receive the Sacrament of Penance in preparation for entering into full communion with the Catholic Church according to the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. Non-baptized adults are prepared for this sacrament after they have been baptized, usually at the Easter Vigil. For more information, contact Jason Gawaldo ([email protected], 724-776-9177 x1317).
Children ordinarily receive the Sacrament of Penance for the first time in second grade and are prepared for this in our Faith Formation programs. If your child missed First Reconciliation in second grade, we would be happy to work with you to prepare him/her to receive this sacrament now.
